New Year, New Travel Tools from Award-Winning Agency
Official Indiana Travel Guide and Indiana Roadway Map
INDIANAPOLIS (January 20, 2017) – The Indiana Office of Tourism Development (IOTD) has been named Best Office of Tourism Development in the Midwest. The tourism awards are hosted by LUX International, an Acquisition International Magazine. According to LUX, every nomination undergoes an in-depth assessment and judging process to ensure the awards are a true representation of the market in question and all the winners are on the cutting edge of their respective industries. IOTD will hold the title for the duration of 2017.
“Our Indiana Office of Tourism Development is entirely deserving of this stand-out award,” said Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch. “On the heels of the state’s Bicentennial last year, it is nice to see the industry is taking notice and applauding the collective efforts of this hard working team.”
“We are honored to receive this award,” said Mark Newman, IOTD’s executive director. "It serves as acknowledgement for a job well done by a team of dedicated Hoosiers who love their home state and the work they do to promote it.”
IOTD uses a variety of marketing tools to bring visitors to the state. Two of which are the Indiana Travel Guide and the official Roadway Map of Indiana. The 2017 Travel Guide features Rocky Hollow at Turkey Run State Park on the cover, showcasing another prime example of the natural beauty of the state. The park is home to some of the most unique topography in Indiana as well as Colonel Richard Lieber’s cabin. Lieber was founder of the Indiana State Parks System, which celebrated its centennial in 2016. The Indiana Travel Guide is a comprehensive resource with information on attractions, entertainment, special events, recreation, restaurants, and lodging options throughout the state. IOTD has partnered with Emmis Communications to publish and distribute this year’s travel guide.

The cover of the official 2017 Roadway Map of Indiana, sponsored by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), showcases the beauty of Hesitation Point in Brown County State Park and highlights the appeal of the area park to mountain bikers. The map, which includes a mileage chart, Indiana State Police and emergency contact information, and multiple advertisements from some of Indiana’s most popular cultural and tourist destinations can be found at rest areas and welcome centers across the state.
“The travel guide and roadway map represent IOTD’s primary print publications and are among the most important tools prospective travelers use when planning their Indiana road trip,” said Newman. “We’re proud to showcase the Hoosier state, its attractions and destinations, and these trip planning tools enable us to do that with great impact.”
