Indiana Tourism Industry Sentiment

The Indiana Tourism Industry Sentiment Study is conducted quarterly by the Purdue Tourism and Hospitality Research Center. On the webpage “Right now” refers to business or destination performance this year compared to the same time last year. “Next Quarter” refers to expectations fo business performance for the coming quarter compared to the same quarter last year. “Upcoming 12 months” reports industry expectations of performance for the next 12 months compared to previous 12 months.

Indiana’s Leading Economic Indicators

The leading economic indicators are provided by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. This figure predicts 6 month growth rate for the state. Details leading indicators report can be accessed here.

Hotel Performance Reports

Hotel occupancy and RevPar (revenue per available room) are provided by STR Global. Occupancy is the percent of rooms in a lodging facility occupied within a given timeframe. Revenue per available room is a commonly used metric of hotel performance. The figure is derived by dividing hotel room revenue by the number of rooms in the lodging establishment.

Indianapolis Air Traffic Performance

The airport performance figures are provided by the Indianapolis International Airport in their monthly activity report. It should be noted that the international air traffic refers only to passengers on flights originating in or traveling to a foreign port. This number does not refer to all international travelers arriving at Indianapolis International Airport.

Gas Prices

Gas Prices are provide by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Data provided measures “Midwest All Grades All Formulations Retail Gasoline Prices (Dollars per Gallon)”. More details and additional data is available here.
