Parke County, Dana and Covington

Day One

Take the Parke County's 30 Covered Bridges driving tour. Parke County has the largest concentration of covered bridges in the Nation.

At the Bridgeton Mill, the oldest continually operating mill west of the Allegheny Mountains, watch as the massive French Burr stones gently grind wheat into flour and corn into meal.

Next, spend some time at the Mansfield Roller Mill. The rustic mill, overlooking Big Raccoon Creek, has been grinding with water power since the 1820s.

Are you a covered bridge enthusiast? Then shop til’ you drop at the Covered Bridge Art Gallery in downtown Rockville. Built in 1877, the gallery houses works by approximately 30 local artists. 

Day Two

Experience the beauty of Turkey Run State Park. Located on the banks of the Sugar Creek, this parks offer a wide range of activities – including hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping (indoors & out), and canoeing.

Head north to Dana and visit the Ernie Pyle State Historic Site which was built to honor the famed WW II journalist Ernest Taylor Pyle.
